Current Project

Title: Sustainable pattern of excess rainwater in urban systems of Colombia, with expected shortfall for drinking water supply.

Supervisors: Dr. Joan Rieradevall and Dr. Xavier Gabarrell

OBJECTIVES

General
To assess the potential uptake and sustainable use of rain water in urban systems Colombians surplus expected deficit of drinking water

Specific
To pattern the growth dynamics of urban water demand of urban systems with excess water Colombian

To assess the dynamics of supply in quantity and quality of rain water in urban systems studied

To explain the key factors for building sustainable systems of rainwater harvesting in urban areas in Colombia

To determine the potential effectiveness in capturing and using rainwater in urban systems studied

To make a model to design systems of urban rainwater harvesting

To simulate different scenarios of rain water harvesting low socioeconomic conditions and urban infrastructure.

To analyze the environmental impact through a life cycle analysis of different strategies for water self-sufficiency.
