Biography
PROJECT TITTLE: Material Flow Analysis in the territory of the “Pla Estratègic Litoral” in the region of Barcelona.
DIRECTOR: Dr Xavier Gabarrell and Dra Teresa Vicent
DURATION: 2005-2008
OBJECTIVES
The objective of the project is to establish the residue flows in the area under study and create different scenarios, both present and future ones, with the aim to estimate the emissions taking place, their impacts and their relation to environmental policies. The studied area is formed by 27 municipalities along the coastal line in the province of Barcelona.
For the moment, the collection of data referring to residue and water flows (potable and residuals) has started. These results, along with the study of the hidden flows associated with water distribution, will be initially included in the dissertation. After the completion of the latter, it is foreseen to continue the research with the study of the energy flows in the same region and finally complete the flow analysis predicted for the thesis.
