- BS in Chemical Engineering, MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and a PhD at the Universtiy of Barcelona (1999). She's researcher and teacher at the ICTA (Institut de Ciència i Tecnologia Ambientals)
- Gara holds a Juan de la Cierva postdoc position at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Presently, her research is focused in industrial ecology, renewable energy resources, and education in environmental sciences. Within industrial ecology, she concentrates on the accounting of chemicals in our society, from their extraction to their use and final disposal or dissipation, establishing what-if scenarios and questioning present use in view of policy and future needs.
