Alexandra Mario Peña, 41st PhD at Sostenipra
On September 23, 2022, Sostenipra researcher Alexandra Mario Peña defended her doctoral thesis entitled “Agro-urban sustainability through rooftop greenhouses, improving cities’ sustainability. Economic viability and sustainable business models”. Alexandra has completed her research in urban agriculture focusing on the economic costs of implementing rooftop agriculture and the development of business models adapted to new market needs for local food production. To do so, the building-integrated greenhouse at the ICTA-UAB building has been a valuable case study, from which she has collected data on the costs of infrastructure and agricultural production and identified the relationship with new business models.
