Sostenipra’s urban agricultural projects at the Smart City Expo World Congress
An urban garden, the SIRAH irrigation prototype and the FoodE APP are some of the proposals that will be presented at the stand of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) during the next edition of the Smart City Expo World Congress, which takes place from November 15 to 17 at the Gran Via exhibition center in Barcelona.
For the first time, UAB will have its own stand at the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC), the international event on smart cities and urban solutions organized by Fira de Barcelona, where it will give visibility to the technological capabilities, knowledge and outstanding projects developed by the University’s research groups to improve the lives of citizens. The University has the CORE in Smart and Sustainable Cities, a strong research network composed of research staff from different disciplines in this field and is the first university in Spain to offer a degree in Management of Smart and Sustainable Cities.
The stand will feature a hydroponic garden prototype, developed by the Sostenipra research group of the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA-UAB) and marketed by the UAB spin-off company Tectum Garden, which aims to transform workspaces into renaturalized spaces.
Sostenipra will present the results of urban agriculture projects currently under development such as GROOF, FoodE, MOVE4EDU and the SIRAH proof of concept within the framework of the “Fertilecity” concept.
In addition to the stand, UAB will also organize a talk on Wednesday, November 16 at 4:30 pm in the Agora of the Innovation Plaza, where it will present the University and its solutions and projects. On Wednesday at noon there will be a presentation by Dr. Veronica Arcas and Ramiro Gonzalez. In the afternoon, at 4:30 pm Dr. Xavier Gabarrell Durany will present the FoodE and its FoodE app.
