Participatory Regionalized Sustainability Modelling

Principal Investigator: Cristina Madrid

This research line has the form of a living lab formed by sustainability and energy modellers, policy-makers, citizens and energy industry following the quadruple helix framework. Its main objective is to integrate the participation and regional components into the ENBIOS framework, which combines life cycle assessment (LCA) and metabolim analysis. This is done in two ways:

– Regarding regionalization, we add a regional perspective to the LCA part of the framework, creating regionalized inventories related to the energy transition in Spain and define one or two regionalized life cycle impact assessment methods related to the most important enviornmental issues as defined by participants in the líving lab.

– Regarding participation, we create protocols for the inclusion of the views of relevant stakeholders in environmental modelling, at the stage of definition of sustainability indicators.
