Great success of the GROOF open day in Madrid

On November 23rd, we held an explanatory day in Madrid about the European-funded project GROOF (Greenhouses to Reduce CO2 on Roofs). The project started in 2017 and will end in the spring of 2023 with the construction and monitoring of its 4 pilot greenhouses. These greenhouses are located on the roofs of buildings with which energy, heat and CO2 reuse synergies are generated.

Along with the presentation of the results achieved by the GROOF project, other actors from the urban agriculture sector were invited: the research group Sostenipra (Xavier Gabarrell), references such as Joan Rieradevall, municipal projects such as “Horts al Terrat” by the Municipal Institute of People with Disabilities (IMPD, Barcelona), emerging companies such as Tectum Garden (Ramiro Gonzalez) and architects involved in new design strategies for integration of agricultural systems in cities such as 9AM Studio and sAtt Arquitectura.

The open day was a great success thanks to the active and enthusiastic participation of about 45 people, including urban agricultural experts, who filled the capacity of Espacio Alameda in Atocha.
