Resum Implementation of the Ecodesign Directive via working plans, based on the analysis of the selected product groups Research paper by Sostenipra (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. The application of the Ecodesign Directive has traditionally focused on energy efficiency and the use phase of energy-related products (ErP). To improve its contribution to resource efficiency and circular economy, new requirements should be included in the Ecodesign regulations. This report proposes broadening the approach of preparatory studies for the definition of the regulations with a detailed assessment of the whole life cycle of ErP and resource efficiency issues. Moreover, key aspects should be further analysed such as the reparability of ErP to enhance their durability and the improvement of the design to ease disassembly and recyclability. Finally, the integration of the EU directives and initiatives affecting ErP should be addressed to avoid contradictions and enhance synergies.
